So, Natalie Portman, who is the star of one of my favourite socio-political films of all time V For Vendetta also staring the enigmatic Hugo Weaving, produced by the Wachowski Brothers... oh gosh... did I just go on a tangent? Ha! Yeah I love that film.
Anyway, Portman won the Oscar for her performance in Black Swan, a film which I wouldn't buy the DVD for, but would spend an afternoon watching on ITV when it comes on in a few years time. That's not to say that the film isn't amazing, but it's just not for me.
The whole "wah wah wah, dancing is hard, wah wah wah my mum is pushing me, wah wah wah this man is taking advantage of me, wah wah wah, i overcame my obstacles, wah wah wah but I accidentally killed myself on the way." Oh please. Have you seen Center Stage? One of Zoe Saldana's first roles as a ballerina, the exact same film, in half the time with half the please-can-i-have-an-oscar-ness. LOL. Am I a hater? Most probably. But that's how I feel. TRUE STORIES.
LOL, well there's this whole controversy around whether or not she danced the amazing dance sequences. Her body double Sarah Lane has come forward and been like "wah wah wah! I danced everything and they didn't credit me and wah wah wah." Then the studio who produced the film came forward and were like "no! That's a lie! Natalie Portman did every dance move except this one thing." OH MY GOD! SHUT UP! ALL OF YOU.
There's a saying in Jamaica "if it no go so, it nearly go so." That is to say "there's no smoke without fire." Sarah Lane got paid, she just wants the recognition and the studio want to protect their Oscar winner. The truth is Natalie Portman is not a ballerina, she is an amazing actress, the studio were wrong for trying to cover it up and Sarah Lane is annoying because no one really believed that Natalie Portman became a fully fledged ballerina in a year. Poor Sarah Lane, no one will ever trust her to keep her mouth shut and up hold the fourth wall that is so important in cinema. SUPER FAIL!!!
